EpiX Analytics helps numerous clients

Consultants at EpiX have been busy this season, helping a great number of clients. While there are many projects we canít discuss because of their confidential nature, here are a few example projects we have recently completed:

  • Private equity financial model in the oil and gas industry:

    EpiX developed a sophisticated Monte Carlo simulation model to determine the financial risks and returns of investing in alternative exploration projects and acquisitions of existing fields. Using stochastic optimization, the client will also use the model to determine the optimal selection of exploration projects and acquisitions.

  • Pharmaceutical risk model

    This multinational client previously used a third party to evaluate the risks of its drug development efforts. EpiX developed a Monte Carlo simulation template model that the client now uses to evaluate its drug development efforts in-house. All of this was completed by EpiX for a fraction of the costs that the client was previously paying to the third party provider!

  • Expert witness in trade dispute

    EpiX consultants were engaged to provide expert witness testimony in a legal dispute regarding the imports of an agricultural commodity. During this demanding project, our consultants provided objective scientific evidence on risk modeling methods for decision support on trade issues.

  • Comprehensive inventory optimization

    EpiX helped a large multinational company determine optimal inventory levels that would increase customer satisfaction with the least inventory possible. Although the goal sounds simple, the many locations of the client and the variables that influenced inventory required the custom development of a model that used a novel combination of sophisticated statistical and optimization modeling techniques. The client is currently using the model to change its inventory and incentive policies.

  • Meta analysis on adverse events of therapeutics for a neurological disease

    EpiX performed a systematic review and a Bayesian meta-analysis to compare the rates of different side effects of a number of drugs used to treat a neurological disease in humans. An article presenting the results of this work was submitted to a peer-reviewed journal.

  • Review of a food safety risk analysis

    In this project, EpiX performed a thorough review of a quantitative food safety risk analysis that assessed the risk of human exposure to a pathogen present in a ubiquitous food in Europe. Our expert consultants were able to recommend several improvements and provided input for future modifications to the risk analysis.

  • Financial risk model for maker of medical equipment:

    This client needed a comprehensive Monte Carlo simulation model to evaluate and rank all its product development and product improvement projects. EpiX developed a model that has the flexibility to provide insight into the financial risks and returns of all projects without the need to create a new/different model for every project.

Two new risk analysis courses in health and pharma

EpiX Analytics is proud to present two newly developed classes in health and pharmaceutical risk analysis and modeling. The creation of the two courses is a response to the increased demand from our clients for expertise and skills on this area. The two courses were developed by our senior consultants, based on their working experience in the health, pharmaceutical and medical device fields.

The "Risk Modeling in Drug Development" course is designed to help individuals who wish to apply quantitative risk analysis and Monte Carlo simulation to support decision-making through the drug development process from the pre-clinical stages to phase III trials.
