Ignoring risk during your planning process can
be...yes, risky!

September is annual budgeting and planning season! For many of our clients, it’s the time that many assumptions, expectations and hopeful forecasts are combined into an annual budget and operating plan. As with any prediction of the future, a budget and operating plan are often driven by many uncertainties such as changes in market conditions, assumptions about sales volumes, competitive challenges, and regulatory changes. Nonetheless, these risk drivers are seldom quantified, at least not in a way that speaks directly to the managers that will be ultimately responsible for the plan. But do not despair, not all is lost! In this case study (also click “Learn more about this project”) we describe how we used quantitative risk modeling techniques to help one of our clients get the most out of their planning and budgeting process. We would love to get your feedback once you have a chance to read it!

We invite you to also visit our newly updated success stories and let us know what you think. For those of you who have engaged EpiX in the past, we would love to create a story based on your project, so please feel free to contact us to further discuss.

Learn about using Bayesian methods in risk analysis

Our consultants will be giving a talk on Bayesian methods in risk analysis at Palisade's 2015 Risk Conference in New Orleans. In this talk, an intuitive introduction to the principles of Bayesian analysis will be presented, followed by a series of real-life case studies to demonstrate the value of Bayesian analysis in a variety of applied settings, based on our consulting work. The examples will emphasize how to incorporate Bayesian methods within a larger risk model without affecting its general structure.
