EpiX Analytics' Risk Analysis Courses 2012
We have been busy developing new courses and updating teaching material to keep providing state-of-the-art training in risk analysis and modeling. Below is a summary of the public training courses we will offer in the coming months.
Project Management & Financial risk analysis:
Financial Risk Modeling for Pharmaceuticals. This new course will be beneficial for all managers, analysts, and consultants involved in the pharmaceutical industry who would like to gain a greater insight into how risk analysis can improve strategic decisions in finance, R&D portfolio management, business development, marketing, and sales.
Introduction to Quantitative Project Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis. This course is certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and provides participants with 12 PDUs for the Project Management Program (PMP). The course is aimed at project managers, project analysts, cost estimators and consultants who would like to learn hands-on risk analysis skills, better understand a project's cost and schedule risk and uncertainty, and improve the operational management of risks during the execution of a project.
Corporate Finance Risk Analysis. This course covers the basics of financial risk modeling, and is ideally suited to corporate finance professionals, M&A analysts, risk managers, management consultants, and corporate strategy planners. Financial risk analysis tools can be applied in a very wide range of industries (from venture capital to the pharmaceutical industry, oil and gas, banking and retail) and to numerous subjects such as new product and business development, corporate finance, strategy, marketing and mergers and acquisitions.
Epidemiology & Food Safety risk analysis:
The following two trainings are delivered in conjunction with the RVC (University of London). The courses were a great success in 2011 so we are repeating them this year, now with even more updated material and exercises!
Animal Agriculture and Food Safety Risk Analysis. Recently updated, this renowned 10-day course is split into two self-contained modules. Module 1 provides the basic principles of risk assessment and where it fits into the risk analysis process. It provides participants with hands-on skills to effectively implement risk analysis models, and is aimed at professionals who require a sound understanding of animal health, microbial, antimicrobial or toxicological food safety risk assessment, and for other stakeholders involved in risk analysis such as risk managers. Module 2 is aimed at those already familiar with risk modeling (such as participants to module 1) and who are interested in further developing their skills. It reviews advanced modeling methods required for risk assessment of internationally accepted standards, while maintaining the focus on producing realistic, professional quality models that risk managers can understand.
Applied Risk Analysis in Epidemiology. This course is suited to professionals working in risk assessments in animal health, human health, food safety, or plant diseases, and risk managers and/or decision makers. The course is also well suited for scientists providing input to risk assessments. This course provides an introduction to risk analysis and walks the participants through the entire process, from setting up a qualitative risk assessment, to performing a quantitative risk assessment, to effectively presenting the results to different audiences.

We believe in using practical examples and case studies to reinforce the concepts and techniques that are presented in our courses. Approximately half of the course time of each course is reserved to solving problems that are relevant to the participants' field and interests.
