Can you believe it is already the end of the year? At EpiX Analytics time also has flown by, and we wanted to share some news with you before beginning a new year.:

Postgraduate Certificate in Risk Analysis in Health and Food Safety: Opening of registrations

We are pleased to announce that the new Postgraduate Certificate in Risk Analysis in Health and Food Safety, offered by Epix Analytics and the the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), University of London, has now been fully validated by the RVC Academic board and opening of registration is around the corner.

This program is the first recognized qualification in Risk Analysis for Health and Food Safety and its successful completion will lead to the award of a Postgraduate Certificate by the University of London. It provides participants the skills for cutting-edge and in-depth practice in quantitative risk analysis and builds on previously successful training programs delivered by EpiX Analytics and the Veterinary Epidemiology & Public Health Group of the Royal Veterinary College.

The Postgraduate Certificate is designed to accommodate full-time working professionals and graduate students and offers candidates the opportunity to develop hands-on skills and tailor studies to their own professional and development needs. This means that participants can earn a degree from a prestigious university while also working on a project from their own work, all while having support from experienced risk analysts!

The course will start in March 2013, and registrations are opening!

EpiX Analytics in 2012 and beyond

2012 has been an exciting and fun year at EpiX Analytics. We’ve continued to work with a number of long-term clients as well as collaborated with numerous new clients in industries that include pharmaceuticals, outcomes research, insurance, finance, public health, food safety, oil and gas, and manufacturing.

In addition to our consultancy, we’ve collaborated with both industry and academia on some innovative research projects and look forward to continuing to push the edge in applied risk analysis research.

Finally, we’ve enjoyed providing training and giving seminars in risk analysis. While the majority of our classes are onsite at client locations, we’ve taught several of our popular classes and given a number of open seminar and presentations, including:

  • Good practices and common mistakes (in risk analysis) – if interested in this presentation, please request a copy here;
  • “When there are differences in opinions: Combining Expert Opinions”, at the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, see here;
  • Applied Risk Analysis in Epidemiology, see here;
  • Animal Agriculture and Food Safety Risk Analysis, see here;
  • A simulation method to reconstruct the longitudinal animal and herd level infection status based on repeated screening tests with no gold standard, see here - page 53.

Our 2013 public course schedule will soon be available, but if you have any requests, please let us know by replying to this newsletter or contacting Ms. Barbara O’Neill at BOneill@epixanalytics.com

Reflecting on this past year, we’re thankful for collaborating with such a variety of great people, as well as excited about the new year.

The end of the year also provides a great opportunity to give back. In our efforts to contribute to the community and share the success of a busy and productive year, the partners at EpiX Analytics have donated over 5% of the company profits to a series of charitable causes including early childhood education, poverty alleviation, and health care access in the developing world.

We hope you’ll all enjoy the holidays and will also have some time to reflect, relax and look forward to another new year!

Happy holidays and best wishes for a wonderful and prosperous new year!!
