Advanced Risk Modeling Workshop-(5 days)

Duration: 5 full days

Workshop overview

This is a workshop for risk analysts who are already very accomplished in the mathematical modeling of risk, and/or who have risk modeling problems that they wish to discuss amongst peers.

Workshop content*

* To tailor the training to the specific techniques required by advanced participants, the workshop will be decided via a survey with the course participants

Workshop format

Participants will be asked to give a short presentation of the modeling issues that they wish to address, and we will discuss solutions to these issues together or in break-out groups. The workshop will run from 09:00 to 17:00 with a mixture of break-out groups and class discussions as necessary.

Who should attend?

The workshop is designed to appeal to very experienced risk modelers who have all the readily obtainable skills who want to investigate how to resolve complex or unusual problems that they are faced with.

Prerequisites and required software

It is expected that all models will be written in a Monte Carlo simulation package for Excel such as @Risk, or statistical environments such as R or WinBUGS/OpenBUGS. However, participants using other risk modeling environments (e.g. Analytica, AnyLogic) should also be able participate in the workshop. Applicants are requested to submit a brief explanation of the modeling issues they wish to address, together with their CV and short bio so that we can assure compatibility between participants. Given the advanced nature of this course, participants are required to be highly proficient in the modeling package of their choice

Participants are required to bring computers installed with their modeling environment of choice, Microsoft Excel, and a pdf reader software.

Free ModelAssist

ModelAssist is a comprehensive risk analysis training reference and is free of cost. This reference tool provides an in-depth explanation of all of the risk analysis concepts, techniques and methods introduced in this course and greatly complements the course material. ModelAssist can be downloaded or accessed directly from our website.
